OVERGROWTH
Sierra Lomo
I view my lived experiences as a garden. Throughout our lives, we have moments of flourishing and dormancy, for better or worse our bodies and lives change and we must learn to live with what we have. Overgrowth is a way for me to process personal experiences to pay homage to moments of difficulty and success. Portraiture has become an important outlet for me to reflect on my experiences as a way of healing and reflecting on issues of identity and chronic illness. By incorporating the natural and abstract imagery, I acknowledge my affinity for nature and the notion that we are at its mercy. These collages, comics, and paintings are representations of myself–honestly and authentically.
