The La Merced Market is a traditional Mexican public market in the center of Mexico City. This project captures the colorful and hectic experience of shopping at La Merced with one long panoramic scene divided up into a series of five animated vignettes. Each vignette highlights a different part of the bigger scene: the man scraping nopales, the woman picking the perfect mamey, a mother and son selling honey and nuts, a young man and his vegetable stand, people having a meal in the dining area, and a few market cats.
Though part of La Merced burnt down last year, it is being rebuilt and the mameys, nopales, veggies, honey, and nuts are still being sold every day.
